Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Janna McIntosh

Dr. Janna McIntosh is originally from Southeast Oklahoma. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1991 and her Master of Public Health degree in 1994. Both are from the University of Oklahoma. She left Oklahoma for two years for her residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.

As a general dentist, Dr. Janna was a commissioned officer of the United States Public Health Service. She cared for Native Americans in the Wewoka and Oklahoma City areas before moving to Florida for her specialty training. Upon her return from Florida, she served as the regional pediatric dentistry consultant at the Lawton Indian Hospital. She worked both as a clinician and a consultant.

Dr. Janna and her family are members of the Main and Oklahoma Church of Christ in McAlester. Her husband, Luke, is retired from the Indian Health Service and is currently business manager of the McAlester Children’s Health Clinic. Dr. McIntosh has two children, Lexie and Jared. Her hobbies include playing with her children, cooking, traveling, and cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Florida Gators.

Dr. Tara Denton

Dr. Tara Denton - Board Certified Pediatric Dentist in McAlester, OK

An Okie through and through, Dr. Tara was born and raised in the Tulsa area. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Medical/Molecular Biology from Rogers State University in 2013. She later obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from The University of Oklahoma in 2019. Immediately upon graduating from dental school, she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to complete her two-year residency specialty education at Temple University Hospital. Once her training was complete in 2021, she obtained her specialty license and became Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Tara is Eastern District Vice President of the Oklahoma Dental Association, a member of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority Dental Focus Group, Delegate to the Oklahoma Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association Leadership Academy Graduate, Oklahoma Mission of Mercy Volunteer, and member of the Oklahoma Dental Association Council of Dental Care, American Laser Study Club, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and Oklahoma Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. 

Dr. Tara has one daughter, Blakely and two fur babies, Winslow the Maine Coon and Coco the Bernedoodle. In her spare time, you will likely find Dr. Tara painting portraits, playing pickleball or spending time with her partner, Miles, and enjoying his yummy cooking. She also loves all things art and interior design. Aside from her passion for pediatric dentistry and passion for serving her rural southeastern Oklahoma community, the thing that Dr. Tara loves most is a good cat video, so next time you are in the office, make sure to show her your best and silliest clip!
